The route begins in Umbrías, one of the main centers of the upper Aravalle. We head south along a track that leads us through oaks to the Hustias annex. We walked a short distance along the small road that connects said town with Casas del Abad.
Once through the town we enter a track that, heading south, takes us to the vicinity of Gil García with splendid examples of traditional architecture. Right at the end of this town we continue in a southwest direction along a good track that runs between meadows and oak trees. We will cross broom areas, populated by wild boars, pine forests with a picnic area, several fountains, a stone bridge and we will arrive at the upper neighborhood of Puerto Castilla.
We will cross the national highway, the GR10, and head north. After a brief descent, you have to cross the Aravalle River to then ascend along a track flanked by beautiful oak trees.
Shortly before reaching Santiago de Aravalle the path runs between some impressive chestnut trees with a gigantic size. We pass this beautiful town through the same square to head east, along an excellent track between raspberry fields. To our left we can see Solana de Ávila and to the right we can see several of the peaks of the Sierra de Gredos with the classic silhouette of the largest of them: Covacha and Azagaya. A little further on we pass near the small town Casas del Rey.
We will cross the national highway again and approach the Aravalle River, where you can see ducks and other birds. We cross the town of La Retuerta to cross the GR10 again. In this case our steps head southwest along a track marked by stone walls and among oaks, to reach the starting point again, Umbrías.
